If you could watch any movie on the big screen right at this moment, what would it be?
Gone With The Wind
You gotta love technicolor!
If you could write a book about anything, what would it be about?
Hmmmm
I'd like to write fiction with non-fiction added without others knowing.
I'd also like to write a really cool children's book that doesn't dumb down the reader.
What's your favorite song to sing karaoke-style? If you don't have one, why not?
The Girl from Ipanema
We're going to Seattle for a few days so it will be very quiet around Gnome land.
We'll be back Sunday with tons of photos and maybe, if I'm on top of it, video!
If you had a band, what would you call yourselves?
Question submitted by Zoot.
This is actually a great question that I never have a good answer to.
It would probably be a one word band name like Alice or Copacetic.
So, how did you do with that weekend goal? No goal? What did you do this weekend?
No goal...
I had a pretty relaxing weekend.
Friday my sister came down and her son stayed over with my son. This meant that my daughter (13yo) stayed up late while the boys calmed themselves down and fell asleep.
Saturday I woke up extra early to drive Troy to work. I swung by the local doughnut shop for breakfast for the kids at home. They ate, packed up, and I took them to my parents house.
My sister and I went to farmer's market. I bought blueberries, tomatoes, eggs, green beans, and nectarines. Then, on the way home, we stopped at a mexican grocery store called Fiesta Foods. There I bought key limes, fresh made corn and flour tortillas, refried beans and rice, guacamole, and mexican pastry.
That afternoon, the kids swam at my parents pool. My son decided to stay the night with his cousin at my parents house so I left him to play.
I went home to get the house cleaned for dinner guests. I decided to have a themed dinner: mexican food. I made limeade, a tomato tart, tortilla bake, with chips and salsa for an appetizer. Troy had brought home some Pacifico beer which was served with the extra limes. For dessert, we had an array of mexican pastries. YUM!
Sunday we slept in. We picked up H at my parents house. While we were there, we took advantage of my dad's power washer and washed our extremely filthy car. We also vacuumed the interior-YUCK. Absolutley no more eating in the car especially for the kids. I'd like to go and use my mom's steam cleaner on the back seat ceiling...yes ceiling. Who knows what my son is doing back there but it's hitting the ceiling and leaving spots that look like freckles.
We came home and my sister followed to borrow some movies for the drive home. While here, she bought some handspun yarn that I was going to put on ETSY. I wrote up a quick pattern for a kid size fisherman's scarf for her to use the yarn on.
After they left, I called my friend Ali back. They've been gone and
we've missed seeing each other. She decided to have us over at the last
minute for dinner. We had some delicious kabobs with chicken,
pineapple, onions and peppers over couscous. There was also shallots
with spinach and balsamic vinegar-YUM! For wine we had Hogue's
Pinot Grigio chilled. Dessert was a blueberry crisp that I was
inspired to make from Little Birds. I also brought Dreyers natural vanilla ice cream for on top. It was all really really good. (sorry no photos)
We got home kind of late and put the kids to bed.
When we brought in the dog, she was itching really bad. She's just
gotten itchier and itchier over the past week. I decided to give her a
bath (at 10:00pm). She's still really itchy. I didn't see any fleas but
I'm going to go and buy some flea medicine today and cross my fingers
that it helps.
So, as you can see, it was very slow and pretty relaxing.
Last week I made a blueberry pie. I used the
Martha Stewart Baking Handbook recipe. The family thought it was not
quite sweet enough. I liked it not as sweet though. It really tasted
more of blueberries instead of blueberry jelly/jam.
I have a counter full of peaches that I must do something with so maybe a cobbler or something today...
